Happy Thanksgiving/Black Friday to everyone!
A couple quick notes about the list (at least what passes for quick from me):
1) If you read the digest-version of the list, and "reply" to a digest
without changing the "subject" line (ie RE: Dreamboat Digest) your message
will *NOT* be posted to the list. It will be stuck in "the queue" Hopefully
you'll get some email telling you that it's pending approval. See below
2) If you try to post to the list from an email address that is not subscribed
to the list (ie the one you get the mail at) your message will *NOT* be
posted to the list. It will be stuck in "the queue" Hopefully you'll get
some email telling you that it's pending approval. See below
3) The list *should* be sending you a monthly reminder about what email
address you're subscribed from. You can modify many aspects of your account
at the following URL: http://monger.net/mailman/options/dreamboat
If you don't know your password, enter your email address and click "remind"
and it will be mailed to you.
If you want to post from an address that you don't get the list at, right
now the only option is to subscribe the second address via
http://monger.net/mailman/listinfo/dreamboat and set "nomail" so that the
second address is subscribed but gets "no mail" I keep threatening to
update the mailing list software but life keeps happening :)
4) Colin, after a lengthy stint managing most of the day-to-day of the
list decided that he needed a hiatus. This actually happened a while ago.
He may be reading the list now, but please send admin requests to me
(mitch at monger.net)
One quick note on "the queue" The mailing list software that we're using
puts email that needs approval in a queue for me to review. Picture the
most spam-filled mailbox you have and multiply it by about a billion.
Based on the nature of the queue, it tends to become a spam magnet and
running any kind of anti-spam software on it would make it work very poorly.
Wading through "the queue" is not a lot of fun, and even with the best
intentions it's rare if I really go through it more than every few months.
Best thing is to not GET in the queue (see above)
If you have any questions about any of the above, or have any problems with
the list, please mail me at mitch at monger.net
