I thought it was great, too. However, I understand there were some country
'bumkins' who were grumbling about the "rock" aspect. I guess I understand a
little. I mean, if I was a major 'country fan' at say..the grand ol opry (back
in the day) and Johnny Cash invited Led Zeppelin out to play "Immigrant Song"
as one of the last appearances, it would be like 'whoa? Who!? What is
this!?" But, with respect to Gretchen's involvement with the Music Mafia (music
without predjudice)... I applaud her for having the nerve to bring honest to God
ROCK (Ann and Nancy style) to a major country music affair. I wouldn't be
surprised tho if people were mad because Loretta Lynn said something to Gretchen
about playing her "Redneck Woman' song before she left..or something like
that. So, it could have been a 'respect' issue, too. Who knows.

As for the actual performance, I thought it was really great. The commaderie
between all of them was kewl. I loved the sign behind them, too! I will
say Ann's voice was only slightly edgy, but she rawked regardless, as usual. :)
I couldn't tell about the 'sound' of the mics too much.. tho, Ann did sound
slightly louder. (Go figure lol). Ann looks great in red, btw. It was awesome
to see Nancy come out first with her intro. She was definately having a
great time. Something else I picked up on a more unconscious level was Gretchen's
facial expression while trading licks with Ann. She was really intent on
what she was doing and wasn't just ..'in awe'. She stood with confidence in
front of Ann. She was looking her in the eye and "working it".:)....she was truely
(and respectfully) 'jamming with Ann'...on her own two feet. :) And after
having heard about the compliments Ann paid her during the red carpet special,
I gotta say...what I saw were probably 'proud' moments ..for both of them.

                            Vik
