On "American Idol" last night the theme was "Number 1 Hits" and one of the
contestants, Carrie Underwood, chose to sing "Alone." I don't know if you
watch the show; but after each performance the three judges offer their
opinions of the performance. When it was Paula's turn, she stated she worked
on the video with Ann and Nancy. Her comments were generally intended as a
direct compliment to Carrie; but also complimented Ann and Nancy. I don't
recall the exact words; but basically Paula indicated it was a big challenge
for Carrie to do one of their songs. It's kinda a standard comment made by
the judges whenever a contestant chooses a song performed by an artist whose
vocal skills they *really* respect. Either they indicate the contestant has
risen to the challenge or that the contestant is not in the artist's league.
It was just nice, after seeing tons of these sort of comments applied to
Celine Dion on this show, to finally hear one applied to the Wilsons.
