I turned around and missed it last night.  All I caught was the last tidbit 
at the end.  This was the 1st time I watched it and I think the reason some 
of it sounds weird is the way they edit the songs (for time).  Sometimes
the song seems chopped because they're going from one part of the song to 
another disconnected part of the song.....somewhere different than the 
original song went.  And it's not always vocally beneficial or even makes 
sense musically.    If that makes sense.

 They all have great voices IMHO, maybe lacking in FUNK though.....  :)
I liked the Chaka Khan rendition (and why shouldn't people cover her?).
