Great idea!!
I tried listening to Ghost Of Monks Hood but got an error message and
get on the CD Baby website for some reason right now, but I will
definitely give it another try later.

Fall Out Boy sounds like Green Day I think, great song titles indeed,
great tip!

Paramore, yeah, Avril Lavigne revisited hmmm not too sure about that.

My contribution to this discussion is Dutch band Racoon, www.racoon.nl
Great vocals and if you're into James Taylor type of songs you'll like
this. (IMHO). On Amazon there are 2 bands called Racoon, don't get mixed
up with the Samba style band, that's another one:)

Then a single that makes me happy every time I hear it; Gabriel Rios -
Broad Daylight.
And then, constantly in my CD player, not new, but a must for everyone
who loves Rock and STRONG Female Vocals (....); Anouk - Hotel New York.
Amazing!

Alrighty then!! I like this topic. Okay, here it goes.

Fall Out Boy. These guys embody so much all wrapped up in one band.
Their
most recent album "From Under The Cork Tree" doesn't have a bad song on
it.
The lyrics are clever, interesting, and hilarious all at once.
Musically
it's catchy, yet interesting. Kinda like their lyrics. What really
floored me
was the song titles. The first song is called "Our Lawyers Made Us
Change
the Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued". Or how about
"Champagne For My
Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends". You get the picture. If

you've got a sense of humor, this music is for you.

Paramore. This is a new band out of Tennessee. Very energetic with
solid
musicianship. The lead singer sounds like a cross between Avril
Lavigne and
Kelly Clarkson. Not bad, huh? If you've already had a chance to check
out
Fall Out Boy, the music is somewhat similar.

I hope Vik and I aren't the only ones here listening to new music.
Let's
here from the rest of you.

Rob

Ok, this is very off topic, but since there hasn't been a great deal of
'on
topic' discussion as of late, I thought I'd interject a different sorta

musical
thread. I invite everyone to share in this.

In the name of broadening our musical horizons, I would like everyone
to
discuss some new music that you all have discovered recently. Also,
how you
found
out about it and why you like it. Doesn't matter what it is, how old
or
new,
genre... I don't care. Let's just yak about great music for a bit.
Want
to? :)

I will start off by telling you about a new group I discovered while
surfing
on CDBaby. It's amazing how much kewl independent music there is. I
had no
idea. There's this little modern psychadelic band out of Oklahoma
called
Ghost Of Monks Hood. I get the feeling they are very indiginous to the
city
 they
live in. They recorded their 4th album entitled, "Spider Through The
Fog"
...in some guy's bedroom. They recorded it themselves. Very much
underground.
But, that's what's so kewl about it. Artistically, I give it much
merit.
Musically, they are on their way to developing a very kewl sound. It's
hard
for
me to describe their music. It ranges from folk, a bit 'Dead-ish' at
times,

some Floyd influences, some jazz elements, interesting keyboard
'sounds'.
Unusually harmonies (with distortion at times). There's a bit of prog,
as
well.
Uhh.. You just have to give it a listen for yourself, I think. If
you're at
all curious.. Go To CDBaby.com and do a search for the band name, or
Email
me privately and I'll be happy to give you a direct link. You can
listen to
a
good bit a several songs from this album.. Seriously, I consider
these
guys
my new little 'pet band' that I love to champion for their sheer
audacity to
record this kind of music and do it rather well. It's fun. It's
renaissance,
it's real and it's underground. And I really love it. So, turn up a
stone,
my
friends.

Vik
